By using Subedit you agree to these terms. We tried to keep them in plain English instead of legalese, so they should be skimmable.
1. Who we are
Subedit is a video editor for creators. The service is operated as a sole proprietorship. Reach us at support@subedit.app.
2. Your account
You need an account to save projects and use Pro features. You're responsible for keeping your login secure. Sharing accounts is fine for personal use; commercial multi-seat use requires a separate seat per active user.
3. Your content
You own everything you upload and export. We don't claim rights to your videos. We do need a limited technical license to process them (encode, transcribe, store) for as long as you keep them in your account.
On the free plan, transcription runs locally in your browser. Videos never leave your machine for transcription. On Pro, you can opt into server-side processing for big files; those uploads are encrypted in transit and at rest.
4. Billing
Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each period unless canceled. You can cancel any time from your account. See the Refund Policy for our 14 day no-questions refund window.
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy. Your card data never touches our servers.
5. Credits
Server side work bills against a monthly credit allowance. The editor itself runs in your browser and does not consume credits. Credits get deducted when you trigger something on our servers, like importing a YouTube video, calling the AI clip picker, or generating AI b-roll. Every action and its cost is listed at /docs/credits.
Free, Pro, Power, and Clipper Pro each get a different monthly grant. Credits reset on the first of every billing cycle and do not roll over. We do not refund unused credits at end of cycle.
If a credit gets deducted in error tell us at support@subedit.app with the project URL. We read the ledger and credit you back.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use Subedit for content that's illegal where you live, that targets minors inappropriately, that infringes copyrights you don't own, or that spreads malware. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that abuse the service or our infrastructure.
7. Availability
We aim for high uptime but can't promise zero downtime. The free plan runs entirely in your browser so it's the least dependent on our servers. Pro server features may be down during maintenance windows; we'll post status updates when that happens.
8. Liability
Subedit is provided as-is. Our maximum liability for any claim related to the service is capped at the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes get an email or in-app notice before they take effect. The current version always lives at this URL with a Last Updated stamp at the top.
